Mimecast is a British email security vendor, founded in 2003 by Peter Bauer and Neil Murray, now positioned as a Human Risk Management platform spanning email security, insider risk, security awareness, and collaboration protection. The company expanded beyond its email-security origins through acquisitions including Code42 (the Incydr insider-risk product), Elevate Security, and Aware. Mimecast serves more than 42,000 organizations and 27 million users across over 100 countries. It has been privately held since the private equity firm Permira acquired it for $5.8 billion in 2022.
