Cobalt

Cobalt is a penetration testing as a service (PTaaS) company founded in 2013 that pairs the Cobalt Offensive Security Platform with the Cobalt Core, a vetted community of more than 500 freelance pentesters. In 2026 it added Cobalt Autonomous Pentest, AI-executed tests overseen by those pentesters. Thousands of customers, from startups to enterprises, use Cobalt for web, API, mobile, network and cloud pentests, AI and large language model (LLM) application pentests, secure code reviews, digital risk assessments and red team exercises. The privately held company, led by CEO Sonali Shah since 2024, was named a Leader in the 2025 GigaOm Radar for Pentest as a Service for the fourth consecutive year and a PTaaS Sample Vendor in three 2026 Gartner Hype Cycle reports.
