Identity & Access Management

JumpCloud Directory Platform

Unified IT platform for identity, access, and device management across human and agentic identities.

JumpCloud Directory Platform Overview

What it does

JumpCloud Directory Platform is an open cloud directory that unifies identity, access, and device management across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android from a single console. Built as a cloud-based alternative to Microsoft Active Directory, the platform combines single sign-on, phishing-resistant multifactor and passwordless authentication, conditional access, privileged access management, and decentralized password management, and extends the same identity controls to AI agents through its Agentic IAM capability, giving each agent a verifiable identity tied to a human owner.

How it works

The cloud directory synchronizes identities from HR systems and existing directories, automating provisioning and deprovisioning through SCIM connectors, dynamic groups, and the no-code Workflows engine. Cloud LDAP and Cloud RADIUS services authenticate legacy applications, VPNs, and Wi-Fi without on-premises servers, while a device agent handles policy enforcement, patch management, remote access, and mobile device management across device fleets. JumpCloud Go passwordless authentication uses hardware-protected, device-bound credentials with platform biometric verification, and conditional access policies evaluate device trust, network context, and risk signals at each authentication. An AI Gateway discovers unmanaged AI agents and applies policy-driven access controls to agentic workflows.

Credentials and traction

JumpCloud holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. The platform ranked first in G2's Summer 2026 Grid Reports for Cloud Directory Services, Privileged Access Management, and Password Policy Enforcement, and JumpCloud won a 2026 Google Cloud Partner of the Year award. More than 250,000 organizations use the platform, spanning startups through enterprises and the managed service providers that run IT for them.

Key Capabilities

mapped to solution categories
Access Management

Supports FIDO2 hardware keys, platform biometrics (Touch ID, Windows Hello), and passkeys for phishing-resistant authentication without password entry.

Evaluates contextual risk signals (device fingerprint, geolocation, IP reputation, behavioral anomaly) at each authentication and step-up challenge request, applying stronger authentication when risk is elevated.

Provides access management functions for machines, workloads, services and agentic AI.

Provides phishing-resistant MFA such as FIDO2 and X.509, with protections against compromised passwords and common MFA attacks.

Provides a directory or integrated identity repository with synchronization across all user constituencies.

Defines and enforces authorization policies that decide which users and machines can access which applications and APIs, evaluated at runtime alongside authentication.

Manages OAuth 2.0 client credentials and JWT issuance for machine-to-machine API authentication, with rate limiting and scope enforcement.

Supports basic create, read, update and delete identity life-cycle operations across all user types.

Implements SAML 2.0, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0 for SSO across SaaS and on-premises applications, with a pre-built application catalog and custom app support.

Privileged Access Management (PAM)

Time-bound, on-demand granting of privileged access that removes standing privilege.

Brokers secure remote privileged access for third-party and external IT staff such as vendors and service providers.

Provides role-based administration and centralized policy management for controlling access to privileged credentials and actions.

Brokering, monitoring, and recording of privileged sessions with the ability to audit and terminate them in real time.

Secure storage, automated rotation, and auditing of privileged account credentials in a vault.
