DroneSec Platform

by DroneSec

UxS threat intelligence tracking adversary drone activity across land, sea, and air.

DroneSec Platform Overview

What it does

DroneSec Platform is an unmanned systems (UxS) threat intelligence platform that tracks adversary use of small drones across land, sea and air for military, government and federal law enforcement analysts. It combines automated open-source intelligence (OSINT) collection with undercover online operations, then codifies every incident into a searchable database of adversary tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), drone make and model, payloads and counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) lessons learned. The platform delivers intelligence at an unclassified level and operates independently of detection and mitigation sensors.

How it works

Collection pairs publicly available information (PAI) with undercover online (UCOL) operations across social media, messaging apps, forums and the dark web. The platform analyzes every drone-related photo, video, word and file to extract tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and build threat profiles. Analysts filter incidents on a map or database by date, open briefs with technical analysis, make and model, geolocation and imagery, and automate alerts. Monthly threat briefs and a data lake of 1,080+ battlefield lessons learned complete the offering, and the Stolen Drone Information (SDI) Database matches serial numbers from detection events against global theft records by API.

Credentials and traction

The platform, then branded Notify, won the 2020/21 Airwards award for software in captured data management and analysis. It serves Five Eyes (FVEY) and NATO military organizations, federal government agencies and federal law enforcement teams responsible for counter-drone operations. DroneSec also runs a counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) training program, anchored by the Drone Security Operations Certificate (DSOC), that has trained more than 5,000 students in drone security, counter-drone operations and drone threats.
